1. How did you guys get your start in music. How did you come up with the name "Offpeak” and is there any meaning behind it?
Well it started off as a joke in 2013 when I (Jamie - Vocals) and my brother (Robbie - Guitarist) were having a laugh on the karaoke machine one Christmas. We enjoyed it and continued to make it happen. One of our friends sent us a video of them playing the drums through the Xbox (on band hero) and was really good so one day we decided to go down local rehearsal studios in County Durham UK and practise. At the studios you had to register your band and we didn’t have a name but we were practising at an ‘Offpeak’ time so we decided that would be the name. Robbie had a few songs he had written in the house and we decided to learn those. We practised religiously and in December 2013 we played our first local gig. In early 2014 after the gig, a childhood friend (Kier-Bass) joined and completed us as a 4 piece band. We then played several gigs throughout the UK and recorded a few demos. Late September 2014 (David – Drummer) left the band to concentrate on his career. He was replaced by (Jackson) who couldn’t off been a better replacement, we recorded a few more demos and a few local gigs. Early 2015 we recorded our debut single ‘Feelings Stay The Same’, which was released in July 2015 alongside our first music video.
2. What do you want listeners to take away from your music?
We would like to think that listeners could use our music to help them in their circumstances. Because there is a story behind all of our songs.
3. What can people expect from your live show?
A LOT of energy, fast riffs and pure rock and roll.
4. How has the response been to the "Feelings Stay The Same" single? What's your favourite track to play live?
We have had nothing but fantastic feedback from our first single, and it is definitely our favourite song to play live as people cannot retain their dancing for this.
5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Slaves UK, Royal Blood and Foo Fighters, would be an amazing experience.
6. Any crazy show stories?
Yeah, but I think you need to be there to witness them.
7. What’s your take on the current state of indie rock?
I think at the moment this genre of the music industry is quite weak, as it is predominately very repetitive throughout the artists, where as we have a very unique sound.
8. What’s the current music scene like there in the UK both locally and country wide?
Locally it is not very good as there is limited good music venues, but the further you go south the music scene gets better.
9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?
I Think it is unfair as its hard to make money in the music industry when you are unheard.
10. What’s next for Offpeak?
Well we have recently recorded an E.P which we are going to release, hopefully get a Booking agent, and gig as much as we possibly can!
