1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Something Like Sound” and is there any meaning behind it?
Ryan: My mom always played the guitar and my Grandmom played piano the piano quite frequently when I was younger so I think that had a lot to do with it besides for the fact that I've always been the creative type and music just kind of went right along with that!
Angelo: When I was younger I used to play with my Rock Band video game drum set until one day my dad surprised me with a real one. Ever since then my passion for music dramatically increased.
Aria: For me I was always into music and started performing at open mic nights and taking vocal lessons. From their I just developed my sound based off of my influences and all the music I listened to.
Phil: My passion kind of started from a break-up. My girlfriend dumped me and I wanted to impress her by learning bass. I had always rapped back in high school so that just flowed into it.
Lucas: I had just always grew up listening to my brother play the bongos and one day I just got into it myself!
Ryan: Our sound as a whole kind of developed when we all came together with different styles and backgrounds and decided to blend them all into one. Something Like Sound was the name I always had in mind for the group when I formed us but it seemed all too fitting as we combined our different styles together so it stuck for us really well!
2. What do you want listeners to take away from the "She Moves Like Fire" single?
Aria: We were really hoping for people to listen to it deeply and take a grasp on the story line behind it.
Ryan: Yeah, when I was writing the lyrics I really wanted to give the audience a story that was relatable while still being open for interpretation. We wanted to make it clear that it was a love story gone wrong, hinting at the fact that someone was not being faithful, without being to straight forward and specific with it.
Lucas: We really want people to find their own meaning in it.
Phil: But it would be safe to sum it up as something like "Love sucks".
3. What can people expect from your live show?
We can all agree that we provide some serious power and energy coupled with audience interaction. We keep a very chilled atmosphere while still rocking the house!
4. What's your favorite track to play live?
Angelo: Although it's a cover, I love to do our version of "Clarity" by Zedd as I make use of a lot of my drumming capabilities on that song live!
Phil: "No Way Out" is always a blast.
Ryan: I have to agree with Phil, although it's a rather easy and simplistic song for me to play, I always love the energy we create with the audience on that song! If I had to give a close second it would be "Taylor's Song" because I really get to shred it on that track!
Lucas: By far it's gotta be "Taylor's Song".
Aria: Yeah, I'm completely with Lucas on that one, "Taylor's Song" is by far our favorite!
5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Aria: Citizen, Knuckle Puck, and Paramore.
Phil: All Time Low, Blink 182, and Twenty One Pilots.
Ryan: Pearl Jam, Senses Fail, (Lets be honest, almost any group from the 90's, 70's or 60's).
Angelo: The Toadies, Weezer, and Down.
Lucas: Wouldn't really matter too much to me honestly!
6. Any crazy show stories?
Ryan: Crazy is what we do best, listing that many stories is impossible!
7. What’s your take on the current state of rock?
Phil: It died for awhile, but it's slowly making it's comeback.
Angelo: I think there was too much of a push on digital instead of raw and real sound which I like much better.
Aria: Being more of a classic rock girl I have to agree!
Ryan: Yeah, I'm feeling good about the slow come back of that raw and real sound that I felt a lot of the industry was just killing their for awhile!
8. What’s the current music scene like there in Pennsylvania both locally and state wide?
Aria: The local scene is amazing, we have so many friends that work together to build the industry and it's like a big family.
Phil: That and it is so wide and diverse! You can find supportive musicians of any genre doing their thing and doing it well!
Ryan: I'd absolutely agree. We've met so many great people who just do their hardest to support the scene and the industry, however state wide I've seen plenty of bigger companies and groups take advantage of this fact to screw over the little guys and turn the industry to greed. I find it to be kind of a "together we stand, divided we fall" kind of thing for the local scene. But some just don't get that and it's getting them nowhere.
9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?
Ryan: We all agree that it sucks, but its something this generation has dealt with their whole lives, there's no stopping it so you might as well embrace that it's going to happen!
Lucas: Not only that, but I'm pretty sure we've all done it ourselves before.
10. What’s next for Something Like Sound?
Phil: We plan to keep on doing our thing until we become one of the hottest in the game and no ones going to stop us on that one.
Lucas: With our popularity growing recently we are really looking forward to touring!

Ryan: My wonderful girlfriend Rita and all of my family and friends.
Aria: My main man Bree Dopwell.
Lucas: My mom and brother as well as my dog Zoey, Jesus and The Loch Ness Monster of course!
