Sounds like: Metal
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Discord Curse” and is there any meaning behind it?
I (Antonio) first picked up a guitar when my mom was in the hospital, they said she might not make it and I wanted to play guitar for her when she got better because she introduced me to Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica and Pantera. And those bands are what inspired the sound of Discord Curse as well as other bands. I thought of the name "Discord Curse" and how I thought of it was discord means a creepy or eerie noise but the name discord curse is like the eerie sounds that will haunt you like a curse.
2. What do you want listeners to take away from your upcoming "Reaper" album?
The reaper symbolizes the demise of human kind because people care about technology more than life itself.
3. What can people expect from your live show?
All the guys give it their all every show no matter the situation and we love seeing the crowd go crazy with us.
4. What's your favorite track to play live?
"Tempus", because it's one of the harder/heavier songs on the album and the crowd goes hard when we play that live.
5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Rings Of Saturn, Cattle Decapitation, and The Devil Wears Prada.
6. Any crazy show stories?
One of the best stories was when we played a house show, during our set the crowd picked up Zac as he was playing bass and used him as a limbo stick and everyone in this packed room starting doing the limbo throughout the rest of the song.
7. What’s your take on the current state of metal?
In my opinion I feel like too many people set themselves in a specific genre or like other bands and it's hard for some bands to make it because they try to sound too much like other big bands instead of writing and creating their own unique sound.
8. What’s the current music scene like there in Minnesota both locally and state wide?
Everyone in the local scene are all connected in some way, we're all musicians and we're all friends so everyone supports each other. State wide is very diverse and there is a decent amount of really good venues.
9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?
Personally actually buying a bands merch is the biggest support you can give but I'm okay with people downloading our stuff from our BandCamp because it's free for them and we know that to some fans music is all they have. I know somewhere we might have fans that can't afford to buy the album and music saves some people and I'd rather them listen to our music and let that be what helps them.
10. What’s next for Discord Curse?
Discord curse will be releasing the "Reaper" album as well as videos for some of the new songs and we'd like to promote that as much as we can so we can play the new album live and we're looking at touring soon!
11. Any shoutouts?
Cold Cock Whiskey, JNCO Clothing, Pure Deathcore, Dead End Recordings, Strange Fiction, From The Depths Entertainment. And huge thanks to Lucas Mann from Rings of Saturn, Don Campan from Waking the Cadaver, Ben Duerr from Shadow of Intent for featuring on the new album.
