From: Reading, PA
Sounds like: Post Hardcore/Alternative Metal

Dear Lucid are a band from Reading, Pennsylvania that have a lot of different influences ranging from Thursday and Poison The Well to Parkway Drive and For Today. Since they have such a big range of sound, let's delve into their debut EP and see what they're all about. "Axiom" kicks things off with a barrage of thunderous sound and carnage. The track shows its fangs in the way of nonstop breakdowns and brutality. It's an opener that makes a strong statement from the get go. "Mirrors" opens with an almost march like cadence which then blasts right into a ferocious breakdown. The melody mixed with the metal sound can be comparable to Killswitch Engage or early Parkway Drive. "Unnecessary Year Of Wake" is the lead single off the EP and it's a stunner. The track has more clean vocals than the previous tracks but still brings the destructive breakdowns along for the ride. The track has shades of Of Mice And Men and The Ghost Inside. It's the lead single for a reason as it definitely catches the ear of listeners pretty easily. "Home Is Where The Heart Is" keeps up the melodic overtones and brings to mind the sound of All That Remains. The track goes for the jugular and doesn't let up in its four a half minute pace. It's an emotionally charged track that really shines. "The Hive" closes out the EP in heavy fashion. The track is a blistering example of Dear Lucid on a warpath. The melodic metalcore sound they showcase on the track is awe inspiring.

Verdict:
Dear Lucid have created a spectacular EP here that every fan of heavy music needs in their collection.
