This new EP from Sorry Mom should be a candidate for Pop Punk EP of the year. It's that good.

Sounds like: Pop Punk

The state of Ohio has a ton of buzz going on for it within the music scene and one of the bands bursting through is Sorry Mom. They recently released this EP and *spoiler alert* it's pretty damn good. "6/7" is an upbeat opener that sets the tone of catchy pop punk early. You won't even notice that the track is only a minute and a half long due to so much being packed within. "Rooted" keeps the frantic pace moving. The track has shades of Four Year Strong as it knows when to go full punk and when to break it down to more melody. The end breakdown is pretty intense and should appeal to anyone looking for a harder edge. "Silent" kicks off with melody and doesn't let go. There's actually an influence of Senses Fail on the track as it dips into an almost post hardcore/punk/hardcore realm. The track is hard as nails and features some extremely excellent guitar work. "Gild" is pop punk at its finest. The track has some technical chops to it along with the punk flair that creates a whirlwind of pop punk that only they could create. "Child" is a surefire single. The track is infectious and still keeps the intensity at a high level. It's a track that shouldn't be missed. "Forge" closes the EP on a heavy note. The track will have you screaming and singing along in no time. It runs the gauntlet of pop punk, punk and even dashes of melodic hardcore. The only sad thing about the EP is when it's over. Six songs is nearly not enough.

Verdict:
This new EP from Sorry Mom should be a candidate for Pop Punk EP of the year. It's that good.
