From: Nanaimo, Canada
Sounds like: Rock

When one thinks of old school rock, usually they don't think about Canada is a source for that sound. Wise Youngbood are out to change that thinking with their newest five track "Desert Wake" EP. "American Muscle" is a hard charging rock opener through and through. Pedal to the metal doesn't begin to describe the type of Southern Rock intensity that's heard on the track. As the lyrics on the track go "nobody's gonna slow me down", same could be said about the kick ass opener. "Noon At Night" slows things down and will get the listener singing along in no time. The track oozes late nights, bonfires and having a good time unwinding after a rough day. "Rattlesnake Blues" begins with a heavy bass riff before breaking into a old school rock style sound. Just like a rattlesnakes' venom, this track will infect you and not let go with its catchy hook, melodic riffs and signature Wise Youngblood sound. "Pyromaniac" is a stand out track. Everything works so damn well on the track that it screams single. It should be played on rock radio right now and would get everyone singing along immediately. The track is so damn catchy! "Desert Wake" closes out the EP with a more somber tone. There's a slight Radiohead influence on the track before erupting into a hard rock explosion. Everything on this EP is incredible for any fan of that old school flair but crave a modern twist.

Verdict:
Wise Youngblood have an old school rock sound while interjecting a modern twist to create a truly special EP.
