Sounds like: Alternative Rock
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “In The Cards” and is there any meaning behind it?
Individually we have all been playing music since a young age and formed together as a band during high school. We all have quite radically contrasting tastes in music which results in the sound of In The Cards. We like to think that we have developed a sound that marries elements of alternative and progressive rock with soaring ballad like melodies. The name In The Cards comes from an urban dictionary and literally means ‘the future’, so we took this as a type of reference to the future of our music and where it could take us.
2. What do you want listeners to take away from the "Mazes" single?
Hopefully a positive listening experience! We think that "Mazes" is a good and direct insight into what kind of music we are making. The message of the song is pretty simple; be determined in what you do and work towards your aspirations. Don't settle for anything less than what you're happy with.
3. What can people expect from your live show?
We hope to give people an experience that will make them want to come back to another show. We spend a lot of time practicing and we take pride in replicating the sound of our records in our live shows as accurately as possible.
4. What's your favorite track to play live?
"Hollow Hearts". Currently an unreleased song, but its been part of our set for a long time. A very dynamic song with some interesting parts!
5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Mallory Knox, Don Broco, and Paramore.
6. Any crazy show stories?
We supported Mallory Knox at a one off show and after our set they invited us back to their dressing room, which was pretty cool. Nath also broke his bass mid-set…
7. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?
In our experience, more often than not, on the road we have been the only female fronted band that's on most bills. So we’d like to see more female fronted bands and to be honest more female musicians getting involved in the scene!
8. What’s the current music scene like there in the UK both locally and country wide?
Right now the UK has a very strong thriving rock and alternative rock scene with many well established bands recently breaking into the mainstream, getting more air time on major radio stations and touring internationally.
9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?
In short, please buy the music you like!
10. What’s next for In The Cards?
We are currently looking to tour with established bands in our scene and we also have an EP in the pipeline almost ready to go. It’s exciting times for us right now, we are hoping 2017 is going to be a big year for us.
11. Any shoutouts?
To anyone who has helped us out in the past, present or future!
