Sounds like: Melodic Death Metal

The opening track "Murderers Lair" brings to mind the chaos of The Black Dahlia Murder in its approach. The Thrash and Death Metal tendencies are off the charts. It's a brutal opener and gets the adrenaline pumping. "Beyond Life" opens up with a flurry of Metal riffs which then incorporates some dark Death Metal vocals. The breakneck speed which follows is unrelenting and takes things up a few notches. The headbanging appeal is off the charts. The melodic chorus kicks in and blows the doors off the track. Once the breakdown hits after the chorus, you'll be hooked to the track. The build up later in the track features some truly remarkable work in all aspects and really showcase the talent of the band perfectly. It has a controlled chaos to it and once it erupts, it's balls to the wall destruction. It's an incredible track and really holds its own in the Metal realm. The last track "Return To Her" has the aggression and hunger of early Bring Me The Horizon. The track later features some Gothenburg Metal sound and it's a real treat to listen to. The breakdowns and riffs come in droves and don't hold back. The EP in general is a prime example of how Heavy Metal and its variations are still thriving after all of these years.

Verdict:
The Face Of Ruin breathes new life into the Metal scene with their outstanding new EP.
