1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Sikario" and is there any meaning behind it?
We all started in metal long ago, first as listeners and then (shortly after) as musicians. I think because of mutual influence of musical tastes. Now, talking about the name, a very important band for all of us is Criminal, a Chilean metal band. Very influential in our childhood. The fifth Criminal´s album is called Sicario. You can tell how important was that album for us. Anyway, that´s where Sikario comes from.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
The brutality of a disturbed mind who wnats to destroy.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
The sound of a brutal maniac deathmetalhead.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Criminal, Cannibal Corpse, At the Gates.
5. What are your three desert island albums that you'd never get tired of listening to?
Sicario - Criminal, Master of Puppets - Metallica, Live Cannibalism - Cannibal Corpse
6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?
We like to think that metal is alive and well, though is passing through rough times. But we are moving, the people are moving to keep it alive, and metal will succeed.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Chile?
It´s hard to say, as under metal has never been in a widespread popular situation, so with all this pandemic situation, it is even harder. But as we said, we won´t relinquish in our pursuit of brutalism.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
It´s good to have plattforms that allows you to be heard anytime and anywhere in the world.
9. What’s next for Sikario?
We are currently working on our new material. We hope that soon we will be able to record it, but as you can expect, it do not depend on us. It´s not like we can get together in a closed room to record instruments soon enough. But we will, we will.
