Sounds like: Rock
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “The Word66" and is there any meaning behind it?
Ever since I was a little kid that is all I ever wanted to do. My first instrument was actually the trumpet. But I was not very good at it and eventually picked up the guitar. At one point I was practicing 8-10 hours a day. Some of my favorite bands that are not exactly what you would call Christian, influenced the music especially Sabbath, Priest, Satriani, and Disciple to name a few. We were going through the typical name process of writing down ideas. The actual name is pretty simple being that we are a Christian band, there are 66 books in the bible and the bible is the word.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
The messages. All of our lyrics are positive. As a Christian rock band we write about things bible related, throw in some scripture, and also talk about struggles in life that everyone goes through. If you are not really into the message, it's just good rock n roll.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
We consider ourselves to be a cross between Creed, Shinedown, Disciple, and Sabbath. Rocking music with a positive message.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
That's a tough one. Let's say Disciple, Stryper, and Shinedown.
5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?
It delayed the recording process. We were ready to head into the studio just when it was declared a pandemic so we put it on hold. When things started opening up again we got in as fast as we could thinking the widow was going to be a small one. LOL.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Christian Rock?
I like what I see. So much talent out there and new artists emerging all the time. We are big fans of the harder rock but also enjoy a lot of the Christian contemporary as well. So much great music out there and we are hoping that can be a contributor.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Nevada?
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic it's pretty dead as it is in most of the world. Like everyone else we are praying that things will get back to normal soon than later so we can do live shows again.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
That's a very debatable question. Of course, as an artist, the more, the merrier. But, you know, it is, what it is!
9. What’s next for The Word66?
We are hoping to get signed in the coming year so we can finish the record. We have a lot of music ready to go. We also have a live video in the works. And hoping to be able to take the act on the road. We are fun and have a lot of energy on stage.
10. Any shoutouts?
Main shoutout is to God. We believe that this is our purpose in life. To be able to send out positive messages to those who want and may need to hear it. We want to thank all our new fans for the support and thank you for liking, sharing, following subscribing, commenting and all that fun stuff.
