Sounds like: Metal/Metalcore

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Not For Saints" and is there any meaning behind it?

We all started playing instruments from an early age. Philipp started first with drums and later with guitar. We are all metal lovers from the very beginning. I think the different styles of Metal each of us listening make the sound of N4S. Death Metal, Trash Matel, Metalcore …. and sometimes a little bit of good old Hardrock. Achim came up with the idea for the name with a former band member. There is no deeper meaning. It had to sound good to us. Originally we wanted a 3 word name. It should also be possible to replace one of the words with the number 4. Because we were still 4 band members. But if you look at it that way, none of us are saints. Everyone has their dark sides. You could explain it that way. After a long night with lots of beer, the result was Not for Saints (Not4Saints). Well, completely unspectacular.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

Basically, we want everyone to have a lot of fun listening and moshing to our music. hahah. All bands want that... We try to combine our different music styles and somehow fit them into each song. We hope to reach many people in this way.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

From Metal to the Core. We use a wide range from the metal genre and incorporate merge it into our style. That's how we try to reach a lot of people.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Vallentine, and Any Given Day.

5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?

As for all bands, Covid was a hard impact on our band events. All gigs and festivals were canceled overnight. We were practically left with nothing. That was and is still very hard. We did the only thing that was possible. We wrote new songs and released a bunch of songs with video and an EP. This is how we want to show that we still exist. More songs will follow. So we're putting together a new and powerful program for upcoming gigs.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?

We are enthusiastic about the variations in which Metal has developed. What used to be sacrilege to mix different styles and genres is no problem today. That offers incredible opportunities for metal. In addition, the metalheads are an unbelievable community.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Germany?

Due to the current Covid situation, the music scene has been shut down completely. The entire music and cultural scene is screwed... For this reason, many small clubs have closed forever. It is very tragic. We hope that there will soon be opportunities to play concerts and have a great time with the fans again.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Well, in the end it always depends on the number of streams. The big bands have a clear advantage here. Means that as a smaller band you have fewer streams and therefore less money. Logical. Nevertheless, the effort to write, produce, record, etc. a good song is no less laborious than with the big ones. The big ones always have a big production company and a fat budget behind them, which is interested in earning as much as possible with their own band. So ... what can I say ;-)

9. What’s next for Not For Saints?

We will try to get out of the Covid situation as well as possible. We are still very busy writing, recording and releasing songs. As video, single and EP. Therefore, always check our Facebook page and YouTube channel. We hope that we can make our live program to a really great experience for our fans and listeners. We are also looking intensively for possible live performances in clubs and at festivals.

10. Any shoutouts?

Stay tuned. We are still here. We'll see each other again soon and then we'll have an amazing party.
