Sounds like: Alternative Rock/Stoner Rock
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Skin Tuxedo" and is there any meaning behind it?
I started Skin Tuxedo as a solo project in 2012. The band name has no meaning behind it what so ever- just a name that wasn’t taken. In the meantime I’ve played with the idea of us, as a band, to perform in skin tight tuxedos, but the other members ruled that one out:-) In 2014 we became a quartet and the sound you know today started taking form from our different musical influences.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
Hopefully they can relate to some of the lyrics. Or just relate to our desire to make original music without trying to please a certain group of listeners. We make the music we like and when people like it too, we cannot ask for more.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Well I would call it hard rock/stoner but lets leave it to the individual listener to define. That’s easier:-)
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Wow that’s a tough one.. “Down” would be cool. Or “Gojira”. The third one could be “Foo Fighters”, just because Dave Grohl is so awesome. But the other members of the band would probably choose 3 different bands?!
5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?
As everyone else we couldn’t play live. But we used the time to record a couple of new songs, so the set back wasn’t so bad for us I think. But now we hunger for live gigs. That’s what it’s all about.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Hard Rock/Metal?
I see a lot of new bands that are true to these genres, so I’m optimistic about the current state. There will always be fans for that kind of music in my opinion.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Denmark?
I think it’s blooming. We see a lot of talent and international quality- in a lot of different genres.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
You have to get a hell of lot of streams to make good money. But we have to embrace it since most people listen to music via streaming. If they, for some reason, deside to pay more for streams we wouldn’t complain though.
9. What’s next for Skin Tuxedo?
New songs, live gigs.
10. Any shoutouts?
A shoutout to Danish bands: Berserk, Franklin Zoo and Vola. They represent Denmark well.
