Sounds like: Hard Rock
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name "Storage 24" and is there any meaning behind it?
Each member of our group has their own unique backstory when it comes to how they became involved with music. However, what we all have in common is that someone in our family inspired us in some way and ignited our passion for music. In regards to our sound, we draw inspiration from a variety of different styles, including but not limited to hard rock, hip-hop, R&B, thrash, rap, and rock n' roll. We're a melting pot of musical influences, and our sound has naturally evolved through the combination of our individual and collective styles. Ultimately, our cohesive blend is what makes our sound unique.
Originally, the band went by the name Blindside, but we were required to change it due to another band with the same name. As the band was practicing in a storage unit at the time, everyone was brainstorming potential names when Baby Phred noticed the number "24" on a nearby unit and suggested "Storage 24". Interestingly enough, the band practiced in unit 23 right next to unit 24.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
Our music is all about creating a high-energy experience that transcends the boundaries between the performers and the audience. We don't just want our fans to be moved by the music - we want them to feel like they are a part of it, sharing in the experience and the journey with us. For us, music is all about breaking down barriers and bringing people together. We believe that music has the power to unite people from all walks of life and to create a sense of community that goes beyond words. When we perform, we want our fans to feel that connection and to know that they are an essential part of the experience.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Our sound is an eclectic mix of different genres, including hard rock, hip-hop, R&B, thrash, rap, and classic rock n' roll. By combining all these different styles, we've created a sound that is uniquely our own. While some people might label us as Nu Metal, we prefer to think of our sound as "Street Rock" - a raw, energetic style that reflects our diverse musical influences and our passion for creating music that resonates with audiences. Ultimately, our goal is to create music that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or musical tastes.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Off the top of our head, probably these three. Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach and Sevendust.
5. How has Covid affected what you do?
Surprisingly, the pandemic didn't have a negative impact on our music. Instead, we saw it as an opportunity to rebuild and revamp our approach to music-making. During this time, we focused on both the creative and business sides of our work, using the extra time to improve our social media presence, create a new website, record new music, and produce a music video. By the time live shows began to resume, we felt confident that we had everything in place to hit the ground running. While the pandemic presented many challenges for musicians and artists around the world, we were able to turn this difficult situation into a period of growth and productivity.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Hard Rock?
We believe that Hard Rock is experiencing a resurgence and is making a comeback to the mainstream once again. As a band, we not only want to be a part of this movement, but we also aim to lead the charge for a new wave of Hard Rock that can resonate with a new generation of music lovers. Drawing a parallel to the 90s, when there was a saturation of different styles in the music industry, many great bands emerged. However, it was the Seattle sound that broke the mold and rewrote the music scene, bringing a fresh vibe and feel to an entire generation. As a band, we aspire to be the spark that ignites another movement like that, introducing new elements and creativity to the Hard Rock genre. We believe that this is a momentous time for Hard Rock, and we're excited to be part of that movement that will shape its future.
7. What's the current music scene like there in Mississippi?
The current music scene in Mississippi varies depending on the region. In some areas, the scene is thriving while in others there is room for improvement. However, one thing that stands out is the dedication and passion of the fans who support the local bands. They are truly remarkable and are eagerly awaiting a resurgence of music in the area.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
The issue of royalties that streaming services pay out to artists is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, there is the concern over the amount of royalties paid out. However, we are grateful for the opportunity that these platforms provide us to reach a larger audience and to distribute our music in new and innovative ways. This is a huge advantage. We view streaming as a means of introducing our music to new listeners, who may then want to come see us live. There are other methods to generate revenue besides relying on streaming royalties, and we consider all platforms to be business prospects.
9. What's next for Storage 24?
Storage 24 has recently released a successful single called "Anger Management" and also recorded three additional songs, which fans can preview on our website. As for what's next, we have a lot in store. We are currently planning the release of our next song along with a music video, and also fine-tuning some other tracks to determine which ones to record next. In the meantime, we are actively booking and performing shows across Mississippi, Louisiana, Nashville, and other areas, and working with radio stations to promote our music. Keep an eye on our website for updates and upcoming shows in your area at https://storage24band.com
10. Any shoutouts?
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our fans for their unwavering love and support. We understand that without them, we would not be where we are today. It's not just about the band or the fans, but about a collective effort to achieve greatness together. We see ourselves as a family, united in our mission to conquer the world through music. That's why we believe that Storage 24 is more than just a band, it's a movement that encompasses The Storage 24 Nation. We would also like to give a huge shout out to our Manager and band brother, Jayce Powell, for all the hard work and dedication he puts into all of this. We love ya Savvy!
