Sounds like: Punk
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Incomplete" come about and is there any meaning to it?
All of us have played music most of our lives, in various bands in Punk, Heavy metal, Hard Rock and tribute/cover bands. Our sound has evolved from the old three-chord punk into a mix of punk and hard rock – a result of the varied influences each of us has. The name “Incomplete” was because the first song on Bad Religion’s album “Stranger Than Fiction” is called Incomplete and it’s an album that means a lot to us. Also, we do believe that as musicians, and people in general to be honest, we are “incomplete” – always learning, understanding and striving to be better in all aspects of life.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
We hope people will laugh at the bits that are funny, understand the bits that are serious, and take a break from every day life when listening to us. Our songs are sometimes pop-culture references, or tongue in cheek humour – other times they are personal relationship songs, or ones with serious themes such as mental health and family issues.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
I’d say Punk and Hard Rock – a cross between melodic 90’s style punk, hard rock and the odd bit of heavy stuff here n there.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Clutch, Bad Religion and Teenage Bottlerocket.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
Fuck that shit! (Don’t know if you wanna print that – hahaha! But I’m sure you get the idea!)
6. What’s your take on the current state of Punk?
I think it’s quite healthy really. There’s so many sub-genres within it that sometimes we have to list off the bands we like and influence us rather than simply say “punk”. Some people think punk is pop-punk (Blink 182, Sum 41 etc…), some think Old school hard core (Bad Brains, Circle Jerks etc…), some think stadium punk (Offspring, Green day etc…). The main problem we see is that, like most niche markets, it can be clique-y and, if you’re not in the purple-circle, you miss out.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Australia?
I can only speak from a Perth perspective because we do live in the most isolated city in the world so there’s not much “local” or interstate touring TBH. In general, it’s been better, but could be worse. More venues are closing than opening and there seems to be a lot of emphasis on diversity and trying to cater for all aspects of society rather than simply putting on the best show/line-up for the event. We are all for having diversity and openness when it comes to the right acts and artists for the event.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
Obviously it’s pretty ordinary to say the least. Streaming has killed revenue for artists – but it is great for the consumer to discover new acts etc.
9. What’s next for Incomplete?
After self-recording our first two albums, we have decided to bite the bullet and go into the studio for album 3. We are about 90% of the way through this process – probably 1 or 2 more sessions and we should be done (but never complete – hahaha!). Once that’s done, we will be working on releasing a couple of singles before the main album launch – stay chooned!

Certainly our partners and families for putting up with us recording, rehearsing, gigging and general noise making. We have a few super fans like Jay, Joe, Tim and Megan that show us great support too. Also Tristan Sturmer from Sumo Sound for his honesty, support and skill in the studio.
