From: Spain
Sounds like: Metal
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Lactococcus" come about and is there any meaning to it?
Lactococcus started as an idea first of a band that could fusion different styles, moods, and ideas, all of them filtered with distorted guitars, music comes from experience, situations, and ideas from and for real lives. I started as a kid playing guitar, followed by learning to play drums at the age of 28. One day I started to put all the pieces together and started recording instruments by instrument, and writing and singing the lyrics. Once this was clear just tried to find good musicians to help play this on stage.
Lactococcus it's a name of a bacteria that you could find in the milk, and It came up with the idea while working in a factory that created medicaments for cows.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
People is free to choose what they want to experience and if on top of that they are interested in the message about things happening in the world/ life/ emotions that would be a plus.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Alternative metal.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
The right question is what bands would like to tour with us, haha!
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
It's just another way/ variation of creating or maybe directing music using technology. I still prefer ' real' instruments.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?
Depending on the country you live in, in Barcelona really tough, the band it's based on the Gold Coast ( Australia) now and the metal scene it's by far more active than it's in Spain for underground bands at least ( not for mainstream metal bands).
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Spain?
Read 6.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
They're kind of stealing intellectual property, either music it's free for everyone, artists and platforms, and it's ' in the name of music ' or the cake should be shared equally, either for small/ big bands.
9. What’s next for Lactococcus?
There are about 6 songs to be released in 2025, those needs mixing and mastering. And then play as much as possible with the aim to get the attention of a big festival.
10. Any shoutouts?
Excited to collaborate with you guys and let's see if it'll be rewarding for both sides.
