1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Software Update" come about and is there any meaning to it?
We formed as a band about 18 months ago and we wrote the album nearly instantly. The name Software Update is just a random name our singer Gus came up with and we just went with it.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
How punk and rock n roll isn’t always serious and you can have a laugh.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Aussie pub rock n roll .
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Airbourne, Rose Tattoo and The Screaming Jets.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
I really don’t like it.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Garage Punk?
Yeah it’s good, more people are getting into this kinda music and we love to see it.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Australia?
It’s thriving at the moment, so many awesome bands kicking around, gigs on all the time and all the local bands we like are bloody awesome.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
Not great, so press vinyl or CD and make coin of those.
9. What’s next for Software Update?
7” in 2025 either just us or split with another band.
10. Any shoutouts?
Yeah we’ll shout out a great band from around where we are from called Relays (@relayspunk on the gram).
