From: New Zealand
Sounds like: Alternative

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Intercite" come about and is there any meaning to it?

We met at school. We were on our way to a gig and we were in between two towns and we were trying to figure out the word for it and we thought it sounded cool.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to get same enjoyment out of it that we get from making it.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

We don’t really think about what genre we fit into. But if you had to pick a niche it would probably be 90s/2000s Nu Metal/Grunge/Alternative.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Powercut, Redline, and Caravel.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

We do not like AI generated music.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Alternative?

Needs to be more mainstream. Artists should try to be more creative. Less Rap.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in New Zealand?

Pretty boring to be honest. Everyone sounds the same and a lot of the people in the scene think they are celebrities and act like wankers.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

We don’t really care to be honest. Small artists might not get paid what they want but complaining about it all the time won’t get you anywhere. We don’t do it for the money.

9. What’s next for Intercite?

More music/more shows. We are going to keep moving forward regardless of how much money/popularity we accumulate.

10. Any shoutouts?

Danny Rascal is a pretty cool guy. So is Ben Chapman, George Curtis and Rhiley Stevens.
