Sounds like: Punk Rock

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Take It Or Leave It" come about and is there any meaning to it?

We all found music in unique ways: some of us were inspired by childhood experiences like playing in concert band or orchestra while others were drawn in by the energy surrounding punk rock. Even video games like Guitar Hero & Rock Band inspired us to pick up an instrument. Devon, Mario, and Zach connected while working at the same GameStop and soon began playing in bands, both separately and together, through the early 2010s. Meanwhile, Craig’s journey started with his dad introducing him to rock music, which evolved into a love for ’90s alternative and punk rock after hearing Dookie. When a mutual friend introduced Craig and Mario in 2021, everything clicked, and the rest was history. Over time, we’ve developed a sound that blends high-energy punk rock with a modern twist.

The name "Take It Or Leave It" reflects our unapologetic attitude. It’s about making music we love and leaving it up to listeners to decide—no compromises, just authenticity.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We hope our music resonates on multiple levels because our goal is to connect with people. At the end of the day, if our songs make you think, laugh, bop your head or fully rock out, then we’re doing something right.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Imagine the rawness of classic punk fused with pop-punk hooks that stick with you. It’s fun, loud, and full of heart—perfect for anyone to sing along and have a blast.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

The dream list is long, but we’d love to share the stage with bands like The Offspring, Goldfinger, & Descendents. These bands inspire us, and it would be an honor to tour with them.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

AI is an incredible tool, but music is a deeply human experience. While AI can enhance production or help with creative tasks, it can’t replace the soul. We believe music should remain a human-driven art form.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Punk Rock?

Punk rock is alive and well, but it could always get better. Hard times often lead to great art, and we’re seeing that today. While we feel that punk rock has become overproduced at times, there’s still greatness out there if you know where to look.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in New Jersey/New York?

The scene here is vibrant and supportive. From gritty basement shows in the middle of the suburbs to iconic venues like The Delancey and Starland Ballroom, there’s a real sense of community from top to bottom. New Jersey and New York have always been hubs for great music, and it’s exciting to be part of such a dynamic and passionate scene. It’s not perfect, but it’s likely better than most places.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It’s no secret that streaming payouts are far from fair. It’s a flawed system, but there aren’t many alternatives and as a band, we’re just beginning to navigate this space. For now, we are focused on connecting with listeners however we can.

9. What’s next for Take It Or Leave It?

After releasing our EP, Tunnel Vision, we’re excited to keep the momentum going. We’re writing more music, planning more live shows, and exploring creative ways to connect with fans, like streaming shows and new merch. Touring in the summer is one of our big goals.

10. Any shoutouts?

Big thanks to Anthony at Small Room Studios for helping us bring our vision to life, to Craig’s family for their endless support as we invade their house weekly, and to Mario for handling the business side of things like a champ. And of course, a huge shoutout to all our fans—you make this all worthwhile! #FreeLuigi
