From: New York
Sounds like: Blackened Death Metal
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Blood Desecration" come about and is there any meaning to it?
JT: Got a guitar from my dad and was introduced to oldies, found a love for metal and down the rabbit hole I went.
Owen: Found that I had a love for guitar and it's bad ass.
Jake: Growing up, music was all around me and I found a love for it. Tried to start a band with some friends and I took to bass, and haven't looked back.
Dave: I've been playing music since I was 5 and started on piano at 7 found a love for drums and the rest is history. We wanted a name with the word blood in it, thus Blood Desecration was born, some see it as a blood line disappearing, some see it as a desecration to the blood of the dead. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
Mosh their asses off, have a good time, and play what music you feel like playing.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Like Blood Bath and Hypocrisy had a baby. Lol.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Slayer, Kublai Khan, and Whitechapel.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
If you can't do it yourself, then don't do it, if you can't produce it, don't do it, if you have to depend on music that is made by AI, then just stop.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Blackened Death Metal?
It's alive and burning.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in New York?
Thriving, getting better and much heavier.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
Needs improvement big time. The bands do the work to make the music, record the music, promote the music, and then tour to play and support the album of music. Streaming platforms should be allowing the bands to take the majority of the money.
9. What’s next for Blood Desecration?
For this year, we have an album release party coming, right after we hit the road on tour. Next year we have a few offers but otherwise it's full steam ahead.
10. Any shoutouts?
Every band we have played with which is a lot. They know who they are. Two of our former band members, still part of the family no matter, Sophie Wesselhoff and Jacob Johnson.
