1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Never Fall Apart" come about and is there any meaning to it?

The members of Never Fall Apart have all been playing music in some form or fashion since they were little kids. Joe (geetars/vox/screams) picked up a guitar at the age of eight & started singing in his late teens & early 20s. Paul (I slappa da bass) started playing guitar around the age of 10 & transitioned to bass in his mid-teens & never looked back. Ryan (drum throne king) has been playing drums since he was a wee lad learning from his uncle who was a drummer in the local metal band Hobnail. The sound of the band has been in response to the heaviness & melodic features of all the different artists that the band members have been influenced by over the years. Hard Rock & Nü-metal acts that were HUGE when we were growing up. This drives a lot of the NFA sound.

The name Never Fall Apart was originally slated to be “Falling Apart” or “Things Fall Apart.” Never Fall Apart came as Joe reflected on what has gotten him through multiple hardships, music. It seemed to fit well at that time & we stuck with it. There have been several discussions around changing the name, but Never Fall Apart has such a powerful meaning to us now, representing the power music has to overcome adversity & hardships.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

The current state of the metal scene right now is unbelievable & a powerful community. Melody can be underestimated in the metal community, & if listeners could take away one thing, we’d hope it be the fact that we bring a more melodic edge to some of our heavier work hoping people will come back for more. More importantly, we want people to hear our music & to come experience it live & be a part of that community & feel those feelings with us when we perform these songs on stage.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Our mission statement is right at the top of our website (www.neverfallapart.com): “Never Fall Apart is bringing back the sounds of late 90’s/early 2000’s nu-metal with a modern metal twist” We are fusing the sounds of all the bands that have inspired us over the years into one band. Take one part Breaking Benjamin, one part Seether, a little Chevelle, a dash of Limp Bizkit, some Mudvayne, sprinkle in some Linkin Park & a whole host of others, add a modern metalcore edge & you will have something that sounds a lot like what Never Fall Apart is bringing to your ears!

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

We would love to go on tour with these three bands specifically: Flatwounds, DEATH RATTLE and Nonpoint.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

While AI has great potential, from what we have seen to this point it can do some cool stuff, but it lacks the human touch. Without the sense of emotion, connection, & general life experiences, the songs that AI engines generate feel hollow & underwhelming regardless of how well they are structured, written, & produced.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Nu Metal/Metalcore?

The resurgence of the Nü-metal genre the last few years has been very cool to see given that was the music we came up on. The modern spin a lot of bands are putting on it makes it that much more exciting to listen to. Same can be said for the recent wave of metalcore acts! The legends of these genres like your Limp Bizkits, Coal Chambers, Killswitch Engages, Shadows Fallseseses & so on will always be the torchbearers, but the new class of these genres are offering a fresh take that is awesome!

7. What’s the current music scene like there in New York?

The music scene in our neck of the northeast has been blowing up the last few years. With a large local metal community, there are a good number of established & up-and-coming metal acts both here in our part of New York as well as just across the lake from us in northwestern Vermont. We have a good variety of music outside of the metal scene ranging from folk & country to rap artists & a handful of really good cover bands that populate the bar scene up here.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

This topic is very much a double-edged sword. Our take on this fluctuates greatly as we gain more listeners & followers to this project that has become our passion. We are grateful that music has become so accessible, but we also want to see artists feel that they are receiving proper compensation & recognition for their hard work.

9. What’s next for Never Fall Apart?

We have been steadily writing new music since the tail-end of 2024. The goal is to track one more single this spring, finish writing the songs we have in the chamber & record a 5-7 track EP this summer. Ideally, the EP will drop mid-late fall & we will be primed to break out of northeastern New York & play some shows throughout the northeast!

10. Any shoutouts?

We gotta shout out the dudes from DEATH RATTLE & Ashes of The Priest. We had the honor of opening for them when they came through our town back in January & they were great dudes. Fun to hang with, great insight into the industry, & super supportive of the music we are making. They helped us get super motivated to make 2025 our biggest year to date!
