-Interview- (3/28/25)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "A Little Overboard" come about and is there any meaning to it?
A Little Overboard describes everyone in the band, whether on the stage or not. Everyone in the band has had a love of music since childhood.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
We want people to take away whatever they can or want from our music. Someone just might hear something in a song that inspires them, or gives them the resolve to push through a tough time.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Our sound, while unique, has a vibe of the 90’s/2000’s Rock/ Alternative, with modern influences.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Three Days Grace, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Maroon 5.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
We’ve all heard some really funny AI generated songs, and some of them are good, but nothing can truly replace heart and soul, or the magic that happens when the right people are in the room together.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?
Currently, we’re hopeful that the music industry as a whole does a little bit of a turn, back towards the days of cheap concert tickets, and authentic performances. The shows, especially, should be more than just the best lighting or special effects. The fans should get the best audio performance the Artists can possibly provide.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in New York?
The current music scene, at least here in Upstate NY/ The Capitol Region, is vast. There’s everything from acoustic sets, to rap, to deathcore. Whatever you’re into, you can find.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
As far as streaming royalties, we think it could end up being the death of the industry. Half the streams by bigger artists are bought, so the little guys can never have a fair chance in the algorithms.
9. What’s next for A Little Overboard?
We are currently working on our 2nd Studio Album, and have some dates booked for shows within the 518.
10. Any shoutouts?
We’d love to give a big shoutout to our Producer, Brian Reeves. He’s been an incredible producer, and we wouldn’t have that top tier sound if it weren’t for him.
