Dirty For Dirty

Dirty For Dirty (Rock) - New Mexico

-Interview- (8/3/24)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Dirty For Dirty" come about and is there any meaning to it?

Jason Buchen (Bass) and I (Steve Moen, singer/guitarist) have been playing in various bands with each other for 20 years. We have known Steve LaValley (drums) for many years, Jason has known him since high school and I’ve know him since ’05. We figured he would be perfect for our project. The sound came together gradually as we all like different genres of music. Our style of dirty blues rock is what it morphed into.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to relate to the songs. We want them to feel as though they need to move, sing, and have a good time while listening.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Good ‘ol Rock and Roll!

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

We wouldn’t mind playing with Whiskey Myers, Goodbye June, and Clutch, just to name a few.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

Junk. It is void of feeling and soul.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

A lot of good stuff out there if you know where to look. Alive as ever but definitely not mainstream.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in New Mexico?

Some great musicians and bands with very limited venues to play.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Not educated on enough on the subject. Definitely not like the old days with major labels. Either way, this is just fun for us as we all have careers, but we wouldn’t complain if we made a few extra dollars, but for us, it really is about the music.

9. What’s next for Dirty For Dirty?

We’re gonna be headed back to the studio in late ’24 or early ’25. Not sure if we’re gonna do an album or just release singles, but there is certainly more music from Dirty For Dirty coming.

10. Any shoutouts?

Yes, shout out to David McRae over at Third Eye Studios in Tijeras, NM, who did a great job with our EP.Also a shout out to Ron Reust for the great art work, he is also in a kick ass rock band called the Duke City Riots, check them out. And of course, Shout outs to all our families, friends and fans who support us. Stay Dirty.
