Started during summer of 2021, old friends J-D and Leblanc took the decision to play music together again, and formed Fâché. Soon, they has been joined by Michaud. They release their first ep on december of that year called Rage. In 2022, they released a split with noise project called Malade. 2023 has been a very intense year for the band, releasing 4 releases and their first videoclip for the song "J'veux parler au gérant". It start in march with Rudoyé ep, a split with Québec fellows Chadhel in april, another ep called À couteaux tirés in july and the first full length album simply called Fâché in september. In 2024, they released a ep called Vieillesse in may, and the second full length album called Violent au volant is coming for september.

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Fâché" come about and is there any meaning to it?
Fâché started during summer of 2021 when me (J-D) and my old friend Leblanc saw each other in one of the very rare festivals that took place that year. We talked about the idea of playing music together again, and decided to start a grindcore band. Very soon, Michaud arrived to complete the lineup. Our sound has been developed very simply by improvising riffs and drum beats. We record it instantly and construct songs this way. Fâché is the French for “Angry”. I think it’s a good name to describe our music, and the thematic are all related to this concept.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
We know our music will interest people who are already into the grindcore style. We know these people want very angry music with blast beats, harsh vocals and simple riffs. That’s what we do. But we add our touch with funny samples that fit with our thematic.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Abrasive and angry grindcore that makes you want to flip tables and destroy everything around you. Just disconnect your brain and enjoy!
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Fâché is a studio band; we don’t perform live. Maybe someday we will, but it’s not in the plans for the next months/years. But if someday we decide to do so, of course, touring with a famous band like Napalm Death would be an honour because of everything they did for the grindcore scene since the ’80s. Regarding the two other bands, I don’t have other names in mind. If someday we tour, we just want to share memories and the stage with passionate bands like us, and whose members are good persons also. That’s the only important things for us.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
I have no fears in AI generated music because I know that the people interested in our music style will recognize it instantly. AI can be very useful in many ways, but not for music. A machine can’t replace the human inspiration. If you do so, it will smell like sh*t for kilometres around.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Grindcore?
I think grindcore is a genre that is very healthy. Many “classic” bands are still touring and releasing great albums, and a lot of new bands like us emerge every day all around the globe. There are a lot of specialized labels, YouTube channels, radio, Facebook groups, etc. So, for grindcore fans worldwide, there are a lot of things to discover. Old and current things.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Quebec?
Globally, the music scene is healthy in Québec; we have venues, festivals, labels, great bands of many styles. In grindcore, we have many very interesting bands and labels that release new music these years. A few weeks ago, I attended to Earslaughter Festival in Montréal. It’s a grindcore specialized festival. There were bands from Europe, USA and a lot of Canadian bands. There were a lot of people attending to the festival too, and, in my opinion, it’s a good way to realize that our grindcore scene is great.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
As a grindcore musician, I knew from the start that I would never pay my rent with my music. But sometimes it can be somewhat insulting to see some of these streaming services making a lot of money and giving us a very, very small part of it (almost nothing in a few cases). I will not drop any name here, but I prefer some services over others. As a music listener, I always choose carefully to which of them I give my money.
9. What’s next for Fâché?
We independently released a new EP called “Vieillesse” a few weeks ago, and we are very happy with the reaction. In September, we will release our second full length called “Violent au volant” but I cannot tell you anymore details for the moment. In a very near future, we will shoot our second video clip for the self-track “Violent au volant”.
10. Any shoutouts?
I would like to give a shoutout to the three labels that helped us since our band exists: Mike from Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, Simon and Bruce from S02 Records and Doc Gore from Crypt of Dr.Gore Records. Also, shoutout to every band into which we know members. There are too many and I don’t want to forget anyone!
