Overman is creating its own unique blend of post-rock, stonerrock, pop and jazz. You may call it “over rock”, if you like – because there are no limits for the Overmen. You will find compact songs, mushrooming psychedelic trips, deeply melancholic pieces or even pure dadaism influenced passages. The lyrics are often dealing with the ambiguity of the modern life and the individual having to cope with his or her emotional and systemic environment. Therefore depression, fear, addiction, mortality is dealt with, as well as hope, confidence, friendship and love. As noted in one of their songs, there is always hope, because "you are not alone".
In Overman, multi-instrumentalist and musical workaholic Jan-Marc Ivers (former bands: X-Factor, InDusTrees, Derber Durchschnitt, Moshroom, Fata Morgana, So Serious, Time Angst, Sir Hobo) has joined forces with old companions and scene veterans Hauke Drews (former band: So Serious) on bass guitar and Christoph Wollmann (active in Nuisance of Majority, former bands: pH-neutral, Cobra Libre, Moshroom) on vocals. The 3-piece outfit from Kiel, Germany is active since 2022 and has released its first album “it is all overman” in 2023 – more collaborations and new outputs to be expected soon as their journey has just started – far from being “all over, man”.
