Velvet Road

Velvet Road (Rock/Pop/Country) - Arizona

Talented Phoenix band entertaining audiences with a unique blend of Rock, Pop, and Country

-Interview- (4/21/24)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Velvet Road" come about and is there any meaning to it?

The band is a compilation of many talented artists who have been playing for years. The band started as a cover band crossing genres to provide variety to a wide range of fans/audience members. The band is now evolving into a hybrid of cover and original music with each song written having a very special lyrical meaning. The name Velvet Road evolved from Velvet Rose and we needed to add some masculinity so a compromise was made.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to feel something which is congruent with many artists who pour their emotions into their work – we want anyone listening to our work to feel a part of the song was written for them.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Eclectic and powerful.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Adele, Evanescence, and Keith Urban.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

We are big fans of organic creativity but that does not discount the ideas that can be generated from an AI push. We feel that anyone who relies on AI totally are shortchanging themselves and not feeling what one should feel when creating something special.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

Rock has been evolving since its inception and breakaway from its big brother – the blues. Every generation grows up with their favorites, but we feel that every generation of Rock has something special to offer and the key is to have an open mind and give the unknown a chance.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Arizona?

It is like everywhere else – some good – some bad and some ugly. In our opinion we are thrilled to be performing for a thousand people and we are thrilled to be performing for two people who are enjoying our craft.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

We personally feel that the best way to make money from our music is to give it away and create a following that will pay off dividends in other ways – merch, tickets, etc. If we were in it strictly for the money, we would probably not be as focused as we are on creating wonderful music.

9. What’s next for Velvet Road?

To continue our current path with the great musicians we have assembled. The past year has taught us that tenacity is the name of the game, and the work pays off when your music elicits the emotion it was written to emote.

10. Any shoutouts?

Shout outs to anyone who has said a positive comment on our social media or has come to a show and walked away feeling better than when they walked in.
